An antiques business – which featured on BBC TV – has shut up shop.
Sea Kist in South Queensferry made a number of appearances on the “Antiques Road Trip” show. Hollywood star Brooke Shields also popped in when she was filming nearby.
Now owner Jenni Meldrum has revealed that she’s sold her High Street premises and put its contents up for auction.
She said: “I’ve decided to retire. I’ve managed to quickly sell the shop premises. I’m not sure what kind of business will go into the unit, but wish the new occupants every success.
“I also want to thank all my brilliant customers who supported the shop over 25 years.”
The store specialised in maritime-themed items – alongside vintage jewellery, books, china and collectibles. It attracted customers from across Scotland and beyond.

Jenni (pictured above) had to take a break from running the business a few years ago when she had a cycling accident.
“I re-opened the shop after the accident – and it was still trading,” she said. “But my hours were a bit erratic and not regular. I eventually came to a decision to wind things up and retire. In any other job I would have been retired by now.”
The contents of the shop will now go under the hammer at the Three Bridges Auction House in Rosyth. The items are expected to be sold at auction in May.
Sea Kist made a number of appearances on the BBC’s “Antiques Road Trip” show – welcoming presenters and celebrities such as Anita Manning, David Harper and Kaye Adams. It also won praise from the Glasgow-based Herald newspaper, with one writer calling it a “veritable treasure trove”.
In September 2020, actress Brooke Shields popped in for a visit whilst filming a romantic comedy for Netflix at nearby Dalmeny House. Jenni said: “Brooke’s a lovely lady with a great eye for antiques. She had a good look around the shop while we chatted. It was fantastic to see her in South Queensferry.”
