Residents are being asked to share their memories of Crossgates and Mossgreen in Fife.
The area’s community council is helping to produce an audio guide for the area – and is looking for local people to get involved.
Anyone with memories, stories or local knowledge is encouraged to contact the community council through its website – www.crossgatesandmossgreencc.org.uk
You can also call 07967 150560 and leave your details. Someone will get back in touch.
Community Council chair Gordon Black said: “We want to take people on a tour around the local area, accompanied by audio clips of people sharing their memories.
“If you have recollections of past businesses or premises, or want to share your knowledge of local history, please contact us. We’d be delighted to hear from you.”
The Crossgates audio guide will be available for free on an app called izi.TRAVEL. Users simply have to download the app and local guide to their phone and then go for a walk, guided by a marked trail.
The izi.TRAVEL platform already offers a number of guided history walks across Fife.
Mr Black said he was grateful to Fife Council for providing funding to support the production of the new audio guide.
“This will help raise the profile of Crossgates and Mossgreen and celebrate their heritage. It will also encourage people to explore our local paths network and green spaces. Hopefully we can finish the guide soon and promote it to local people.”
Crossgates and Mossgreen Community Council represents the views of local residents and works with Fife Council and other organisations on projects in the area.
Meetings are normally held in Crossgates Community Centre on the second Monday of each month except during January, April, July and August. Meetings normally start at 7 p.m. and anyone is welcome to attend.
